Removing your stone guards



If you have them and you like them, you can skip this one.

If you are not crazy about them, they are fortunately easy to remove.



With Stone Guards, as delivered


The iconic shark-fin like stone guards on the 930 really work with the big fender flares that car has. The Carrera, which has smaller flares, does not seem (to me) to take them that well. I like the understated look without them so I looked into how to remove them safely.


The answer is a steamer. There are small inexpensive steamers available on line which work just fine for this.


Before:


using the steamer, go slow, work up the edge and slowly pull down on a steep angle so you are pulling on the stoneguard and not the paint. Did I mention going slow?



Left over glue when you are done can be removed with DuPont adhesive remover and a rag, or you can also use your hands to rub it off. I am lazy.
