Now is not a great time (with John Sally Ride)
John, Sal & Sal recorded the basic tracks in a studio together and then between work schedules and a pandemic I recorded all of my guitar parts and vocals at home using a pretty basic setup. Several guitars, lots of Les Paul (nicest things, putting it off, break your heart, is it over), Gibson SG (persistence), Fender Strat (now is not a great time, I never understood, snores), a Gretsch 6120 (far from eaten out) and a Rickenbacker 360-12 (Nostalgia). Amps were mainly a 50W Marshall, a Vox AC30 (Nicest Things, Far from eaten out, Nostalgia) , a home brew 4x10 Bassman (I never understood, break your heart) and a home brew 5E3 Deluxe (is it over). Mics were 57's or 58's. Of special note perhaps, "Persistence" and the title track were both recorded using a UA Ox box. (Guitar-->Marshall-->Ox) The two places I recall playing acoustic were my Martin D35 on break your heart and a budget Fender Squire acoustic in Nashville tuning on the title track (it's the twinkly part that comes in behind the 2nd verse) I think I used an old MXL 990 that I rebuilt with https://microphone-parts.com/ guts. An RK47 capsule and a Shoeps inspired circuit iirc. Whatever it is, it sounds great. ;)
On the more musical side, I usually recorded 2 takes and John & Len Monachello would either pick the one they liked, assemble one they liked from the various bits or just use them both! It was always fun to see which way they went. :) Len is really the 5th "Sally" (or the 3rd Sally?) idk. Anyhow I should have written this bit a long time ago! Great contributions & great engineering!

Wilco “just a fan” tribute: (with Coffee House Killers, Dave Daignault & Amy Cabot) Recorded in my basement and mixed/mastered by the peerless Frank Egan at Sounds Easy, Fairfield, CT. Recorded with very few takes, as live as we could manage. I'm singing lead, oh the humanity. Our guide tracks here were "Someone take the wheel" by the Replacements and "Street Fighting Man" by the Stones. E guitar is a les paul and my home brew 5E3 deluxe. Of note, Amy's acoustic rhythm guitar was run through a 4x10 bassman for some grit.
